Who Is the Woman God Sees?
“You are precious in My eyes, honored, and I love you.”
— Isaiah 43:4
The year may be new, but God’s view of us hasn’t changed. Before we set a single goal or rewrite a single plan, He invites us to remember who we already are to Him.
January stirs up a lot of pressure — new intentions, new journals, new routines, new “this time I’m really doing it” energy.
Yet beneath all that movement sits a quieter question, one we rarely name:
Who is the woman God sees when He looks at me?
Most of us don’t start the year feeling shiny or saintly. Many of us begin tired, hopeful, hesitant, and wondering if this might be the year we finally grow into the woman we long to become. But becoming doesn’t begin by operating in our own strength. It begins with remembering and surrendering.
We lay down our expectations and:
Return to what God says about us,
Recall who He has always seen, and
Receive our identity instead of trying to earn it.
The Woman the World Sees vs. The Woman God Sees
The world is loud with labels.
Mother. Single. Divorced. Busy. Behind. Too soft. Too strong. Not enough. Too much.
Over time, we start carrying these names as if they define us.
Some days we shrink to fit the expectations around us.
Other days we stretch ourselves thin trying to prove worth.
And often, we look in the mirror and notice every flaw before recognizing any trace of God’s design.
But God? God holds a different view.
He doesn’t define us by our résumé or our roles.
He doesn’t measure us by productivity or past mistakes.
His gaze goes deeper — straight into truth, dignity, and who we are becoming.
Where the world assigns labels, He restores identity.
In a world that critiques, He speaks belonging.
The world sees less than, He sees the gifts He placed within us.
The Woman God Sees — In Scripture and in You
When God looks at you, He sees:
1. A Woman Who Is Seen
Hagar discovered this in the wilderness when she cried out, “You are the God who sees me.”
Her words still echo through our stories today.
2. A Woman Who Is Chosen
Mary lived an ordinary life in Nazareth, yet heaven knew her by heart.
God still calls women from quiet places into meaningful journeys.
3. A Woman Who Is Loved Without Condition
This love doesn’t wait for improvement or perfection.
It meets us right where we are — tender, steady, complete.
You are loved because He IS Love.
4. A Woman Created on Purpose, With Purpose
Your tenderness, intuition, strength, and story are not random.
He sees the masterpiece even when we feel caught in the sketch.
A Gentle Path Forward
Becoming the woman God sees isn’t about rushing into transformation. It’s about letting Him reshape our vision of ourselves.
This week, try taking small, intentional steps:
1. Pray each morning:
“Lord, help me become the woman You see.”
2. Pay attention to the moments your inner critic gets loud.
Trade self-judgment for mercy — the kind God freely offers.
3. Sit with Scripture.
Let it rest in you until it begins to feel familiar.
Small steps. Holy momentum.
Identity grows through daily invitations — the ones we quietly say yes to.
We’re Just Getting Started
This journey of becoming isn’t about perfection. It’s about rediscovering the woman God formed with intention and love.
Next week, we’ll walk into the tender work of releasing the old stories and labels that have kept us from seeing ourselves clearly.
Until then, rest in this truth:
God sees you fully.
God chooses you daily.
God loves you endlessly.
And He is alreashaping who you are becoming.
YOU ARE loved,
Leslie
